How to fix bad Picture Quality in FuboTV

FuboTV is another great alternative for Streaming Video fans who don’t want to miss out Live TV. But unlike competitors like Hulu, Sling TV etc. FuboTV has an unique twist: The service is focused on live sports.

And while the service is a great way to consume live sports and a worthwhile platform, there have been problems with streaming and picture quality. Mind you, this is something all platforms have to deal with and not necessarily a reflection of FuboTV in general. However, we have looked at the most common problems and how to fix them in this guid.

Issue: FuboTV Video Stream doesn’t start

Something a lot of people have been experiencing is the FuboTV stream not startig at all. Instead you will see the typical spinning wheel, telling you that the service is trying to connect. Users have complained about that occuring regularly.

However it very much depends on what devices you are using, if this problem in streaming quality is going to occur for you. It seems that Android and Apple users don’t experience the problem as much as users of certain Amazon Fire Sticks.

One of the reasons why live streams tend to experience more lag is that Live TV typically requires a higher internet speed connection. That’s because during Live video streaming video files cannot be compressed with ahead of time like for example Netflix does with its content. Users found out that FuboTV’s 1080p streams for example use up about as much bandwidth as Netflix does when streaming 4K quality video.

How to fix it:

There are a host of reasons for this particular issue, so you have to go through different steps to fix it.

  1. Restart the app and the device. Close the app and see if after restarting the issue still occurs. If so, turn off the device you are using for streaming and unplug it for about 10 seconds.
  2. Test your Wifi-Connection. See if other devices using the same Wifi-Connection work. If not, unplug your Wifi Router.
  3. Use a different device. If the problem continues, try using FuboTV on a different device. If it works without issues on a different device, you now at least know the source of the problem.
  4. See if other apps like YouTube work on your device. To check if your device in general as an issue with establishing a Wifi connection, try a different video streaming service and see if it works like usual. If not, there might be an issue with the Wifi adapter in your device. Many manufacturers usually tend to build in cheap Wifi adapters to cut costs, so you might need to send it in if you still have warranty or replace the device.

Issue: FuboTV keeps buffering during a stream

Nothing is more annoying the continues buffering, especially during live sports event. Usually the reason for that has in some form to do with your internet connection. So let’s look at different ways to solve the problem

Usually fuboTV is very good at adjusting its picture quality according to the internet connection you have in your home. This works automatically and you don’t have to do anything, to adjust it manually. However, if you are experiencing buffering you have the ability to toggle picture quality yourself. That way you can decrease the picture quality and avoid buffering.

First, you push the Options Button on your Amazon Fire TV remote.

Then you select Video Quality.

There you can adjust picture quality. We recommend either 540p or 396p for a good balance between quality and fluidity. Honestly, picture quality below that isn’t really worth it, because you’ll just be annoyed with the muddled images.

While watching, tap the screen and select the Options icon.

Then select Video Quality.

Here you can adjust the picture quality. We recommend going with either 540p or the next lower one (which depends on your phone) and wouldn’t recommend going with any picture quality lower than that. You won’t be able to enjoy it, because the drastically reduced size makes it hard to even make out what is happening on the screen.

How Can I get 4K Picture quality on FuboTV?

4K has become a more common TV feature. 4K and HDR-compatible displays can be found in almost every budget. This helps put 4K content in high demand, but unfortunately, it isn’t available on every streaming service.

4K has replaced the HD resolution standards, including 1080p and 720p, as the top standard on most TVs sold now. 4K refers to display resolutions of either 4096×2160 or 3840×2160 pixels and produces visuals with exceptional detail. 4K is often paired with HDR, or High Dynamic Range, which gives those detailed visuals increased color options and contrasts.

FuboTV does actually offer 4K, although this feature is currently only available for limited sports events and only in beta. To be able to streamin 4K your device needs the latest version of the fuboTV app. You are also gonna need an internet connection of at least 25 Mb/s or more.
